Given the rapid advancements in team sports, this study highlights the critical role of research in refining teaching methodologies. It explores the need for innovative educational strategies to boost instructional effectiveness and improve students' speed and quality in learning various sports skills. Specifically, this research focuses on basketball, a sport gaining popularity in Iraq.
The study investigates the impact of the K.W.L (Known, Want to Know, Learned) self-learning strategy on acquiring specific offensive basketball skills among first-year students at Al-Qadisiyyah University's College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences.
Researchers employed a controlled experimental design involving two equivalent groups, each with 28 students. The experimental group utilized the K.W.L strategy in two weekly sessions for six weeks to learn chest passing, dribbling, and set shots. This strategy guided students through organized steps to grasp the technical performance of these skills. Conversely, the control group followed the conventional teaching curriculum. This research aims to provide a contemporary educational framework that enhances competitive performance.
