The publication ethics of Damu Journal of Sport Sciences (DJSS) follow the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and international best practices in scholarly publishing.
All parties involved in the publishing process — editors, reviewers, authors, and readers — must adhere to these ethical standards.

Duties of the Publisher

The journal is committed to:

  • Ensuring that editorial decisions are independent and based solely on academic merit.

  • Maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record.

  • Preventing plagiarism, data falsification, and unethical research practices.

  • Publishing corrections, clarifications, or retractions when necessary.

  • Ensuring transparency and ethical oversight of the publication process.


Duties of Editors

Editors are responsible for:

  • Making fair and unbiased decisions to accept or reject manuscripts.

  • Maintaining confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and reviewers.

  • Avoiding conflicts of interest.

  • Ensuring academic integrity and ethical publishing standards.

  • Investigating allegations of misconduct and issuing corrections or retractions when required.

  • Not using unpublished materials for personal research without written permission from the author.


Duties of Reviewers

Reviewers must:

  • Assist editors in making publication decisions.

  • Maintain confidentiality of manuscripts.

  • Provide objective, constructive, and timely reviews.

  • Avoid conflicts of interest and disclose any potential conflicts.

  • Not use unpublished information for personal advantage.


Duties of Authors

Authors must:

  • Submit original work that has not been published or submitted elsewhere.

  • Ensure all co-authors approve the submission.

  • Properly acknowledge funding sources and institutional approvals.

  • Follow ethical research and reporting standards.

  • Immediately notify the journal if significant errors are discovered after publication.

  • Ensure their work is free from plagiarism (all submissions are checked using plagiarism detection software).

Under the journal’s open access policy, authors retain copyright of their work and permit reuse, distribution, and reproduction provided proper citation is given.
