Abstract

The importance of this research lies in the use of modern educational methods, such as self-learning using small group methods, which can contribute to improving these kinematic variables by directly involving the learner in the learning process and giving them the opportunity for experimentation and self-evaluation. This type of learning can contribute to improving the quality of motor performance by enhancing the learner's awareness of the phases of movement and continuously correcting errors, in addition to developing a spirit of cooperation and teamwork within small groups. The research problem was the noticeable weakness among students in performing the long-range shooting skill, which may be due to a deficiency in developing the kinematic variables associated with this skill, resulting from reliance on teaching methods that may not consider individual differences or encourage self-learning or group interaction. The research objective was to identify the impact of self-learning exercises using small group methods on developing the kinematic variables of long-range basketball shooting performance in students. The experimental method was used, and the research sample consisted of first-year students. After implementing the educational exercises, the most important conclusions were reached: self-learning exercises using the small group method achieved the required educational level in developing the kinematic variables of long-range basketball shooting performance for the students. The most important recommendation was to adopt self-learning exercises using the small group method, as they achieved the required educational level in developing the kinematic variables of long-range basketball shooting performance for the students.
