The current study was conducted in gyms in the Holy Karbala Governorate/Central Sector, totaling (10) gyms and (75) athletes, with an average age ranging between (19-23) years. The athletes were divided into two groups. The first group included athletes who consumed anabolic protein supplements. The study included 50 players, who formed the experimental group, and 25 players who did not take the protein supplement, who formed the control group.
The research involved measuring the levels of testosterone, superoxide dismutase, glutathione, malondialdehyde, total protein, total cholesterol, triglycerides, low-density lipoprotein (LDL), and high-density lipoprotein (HDL).
The results of the current study showed:
1- A significant increase (P ≤ 0.05) in the concentration of malondialdehyde, total protein, total cholesterol, triglycerides, and LDL in the experimental group compared to the control group.
2- A significant decrease (P ≤ 0.05) in the levels of testosterone, superoxide dismutase, glutathione, and HDL in the experimental group compared to the control group.
