Abstract

The research problem lies in the decline in physical performance and combination offensive skills due to a lack of focus on specific, high-intensity training methods that offer cost-effective training. These methods involve short rest periods between repetitions and sets during training sessions, tailored to the training objective and the individual capabilities of advanced basketball players. This research aims to develop a set of high-intensity interval training exercises to improve speed-strength and combination offensive skills in basketball players over 18 years old, and to determine their impact on the players. The experimental method was used, employing a two-group pre-test/post-test system with equivalent groups. The statistical research population consisted of 16 advanced basketball players over 18 years of age from Al-Hilla Sports Club. A random sample of 12 players was selected and divided into experimental and control groups. The most important conclusion was that high-intensity interval training had a positive effect on developing speed-strength and the performance of complex offensive skills in basketball players over 18 years of age. The most important recommendation was to emphasize the importance of high-intensity training methods and techniques for players, with controlled repetitions and rest periods, due to their clear importance in enhancing and developing the physical and technical aspects by saving time and effort and achieving the necessary adaptations for advanced basketball players over 18 years of age.
