The significance of this research lies in the design of specialized physical exercises using the VertiMax training device—simulating the nature of basketball skills—to develop explosive power in the arms and legs, as well as jump shot accuracy, among youth players (under 18). The research problem stems from observed weaknesses in the physical and skill-related aspects of most players, resulting from a lack of modern equipment and training exercises that mimic actual game performance; this has negatively impacted jump shot technique and accuracy.
The study aims to design specialized VertiMax exercises and determine their impact on developing explosive power in the arms and legs and jump shot accuracy for youth basketball players (under 18). The researcher hypothesized that these exercises would have a statistically significant effect on the physical and skill variables under investigation.
An experimental approach was adopted, utilizing a sample of 12 players from the Air Defense Club’s youth basketball team. Following the administration of specific physical and skill-based tests and the implementation of the training program, the results demonstrated that the proposed exercises using the VertiMax device—combined with progressive training intensity—led to significant improvements in explosive strength (speed-strength) in both the arms and legs. This positively impacted the participants' physical fitness levels and enhanced the accuracy of their jump-shot performance.
