The Impact of Ryan's Thinking Model on Teaching Some Scouting Skills to Academic Students

Abstract

The importance of this research lies in its integration of constructivist thinking and scouting learning, two fields that, when combined, achieve high educational value. At the educational level, the research presents a scientific framework for applying Ryan's model within a practical training environment that relies on physical activity and nature, thus opening the door to developing modern strategies in scouting education. At the student level, the importance is evident in the fact that this type of education contributes to building a leadership personality capable of planning and decision-making, and raises the level of mental skills related to research, analysis, and deduction. The research problem was: Students face difficulty in grasping the steps of scouting skills, such as reading maps, determining directions, or managing emergency situations, due to the absence of a thinking model that helps them understand the situation, analyze its elements, and choose the appropriate behavior. This reality raises the question of whether Ryan's Thinking Model can be employed as an educational approach to enhance students' acquisition of scouting skills and develop their ability to think systematically during practical activities. The research aimed to identify the impact of Ryan's Thinking Model on teaching certain scouting skills to academic students. The experimental method was used, and the sample consisted of first-year students. After applying the model, the most important conclusion was reached: Ryan's Thinking Model is among the models that have achieved success in teaching certain scouting skills to academic students. The most important recommendation was to adopt Ryan's Thinking Model, given its proven success in teaching certain scouting skills to academic students.
